The Ledge, Episode 29: Best of 2010 (So Far)

Ok, 2010 is now just over halfway finished, so I figured it's time to start contemplating what albums have inspired me the most so far this year. Here's a few things that help dispel the notion that there just isn't great music being released these days. Check it out at my mevio site or download it here.

3. Peter Case, "House Rent Jump"

4. The Whigs, "Kiss Me Carolyne"

5. Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, "Ativan Eyes"

6. Hot Hot Heat, "Goddess on the Prairie"

7. The Scruffs, "Ipod Girl"

8. Frightened Rabbit, "Nothing Like You"

9. Dr. Dog, "Shadow People"

10. Pernice Brothers, "Jacqueline Susann"

11. Avi Buffalo, "What's In It For"

12. Hold Steady, "Rock Problems"

13. Gaslight Anthem, "Orphans"

I met Alejandro Escovedo last year in Austin at a SIMS benefit concert. Tons of Austin musicians came out to do a Stones tribute. It was sweet! But sweeter was the genuine
conversation with Alejandro. I will bug Rob Joyce till I die to bring him to Jazzfest or the series. More people need to see this remarkable talent!
