Live Ledge #183: Big Takeover's Jack Rabid

Over the course of its 35 year tenure, The Big Takeover has been the premiere document of all forms of independant music - from the CBGB's punk scene of the late 70's to the fuzz-pop indie rock of today. Published only twice a year, it's book-like thickness may be a bit intimidating but is always an engrossing read.
Jack Rabid is the founder and ediitor-in-chief, and he spent the first hour on tonight's show talking about the history of his publication. It's a fascinating conversation that not only talks about the music that inspired him to the start the magazine, but how this passion has ignited his passion for politics and social issues. Most impressive is his assertion that the friendships that have developed through the magazine are infinitely more satisfying than any financial rewards that could have come from any other life path.
Next week, Jack joins the realpunkradio familly with his new show, The Big Takeover With Jack Rabid. The weekly show can be heard on realpunkradio every Monday at noon ET, or can be downloaded later at the station's website. This will definitely be a must-listen for any music fan.
After Jack departed to help his wife set up the house for his son's birthday party, Live Ledge moved on to a segment devoted to Lydia Loveless, who will be the subject of Gorman Bechard's next documentary. Like all of Bechard's movies, Who Is Lydia Loveless will be funded via kickstarter, and you can help by heading HERE!!!
