Hudson's 50 Most Played Artists And Albums of 2019
Ever since I signed up to the service around 15 years ago I've been a LastFM junkie. It's sort of my own personal Soundscan that verifies that I actually listen to the music I constantly rave about. I'm constantly on the look for methods to report my personal listening. Various apps have built-in plug-ins and settings but I've also discovered methods to report my non-app airings of physical media.
There's really no surprises in these lists of the artists and albums that were my personal soundtrack of the year. Favorite new releases share the top of the charts with old reliables. It's also clear that vault releases by many of these longtime faves aided in their places on the "artists" chart. But let's be real. The Replacements would have still topped the artist chart, as it is their usual place. Just like the fact that Guided By Voices and Ty Segall both routinely release multiple records every year bumps their stats. On the other hand, the tragic deaths of Kim Shattuck and David Berman led to career remembrances that pushed them into the top 10.
